Part with shifted layers, zebras, or horizontal lines in the print
Layer shift (laterally shifted layers)
Indicates a mechanical problem with the printer:
- Check the fastening screws of the rails and Z-axis rod
- Ensure the transmission belt is correctly tensioned
- Lubricate the rails with PTFE grease — never use WD-40
Zebra pattern (alternating dark and light stripes)
Caused by FEP that is too tight or damaged. Check the FEP tension — it should vibrate at an audible frequency when gently tapped. Old and rigid FEP should be replaced.
Periodic horizontal lines
Vibrations in the printer during printing. Place the printer on an anti-vibration surface and check if it is level. Reduce the platform lift speed.
Parameter settings to improve quality
- Lift speed: 40-60mm/min (slower = less vibration = better quality)
- Bottom lift speed: 20-30mm/min
- Rest time after lift: 2-3 seconds for more viscous resins
